Gamma Beta Phi is a service minded honor society that celebrates servitude of the community and academic excellence. Gamma Beta Phi was founded in Spartanburg, South Carolina by a group of Southern college educators and is a natural extension of the Beta Club, which is a high school honor society. They work on projects such as collecting books for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, collecting shoes for citizens of Iraq, and many more charitable acts. Honor Society - May 7 Mu Alpha Theta inducts Six New Members on April 18 ’s Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society inducted six new members at their annual induction ceremony on April 18 at the Math and Science Building on the Senatobia campus. "Mu Alpha Theta is a national honor society for students who have excelled in their math courses," said Jennifer Jones, instructor of Mathematics at Northwest. "Students must meet the academic qualifications for induction into Mu Alpha Theta. Each of our 2024 initiates are dedicated to their academic studies and are very deserving of this honor. I have enjoyed getting to know these students and wish them success in the future." Honor Society - Apr 24 Northwest Oxford Campus’s Phi Theta Kappa Inducts 20 New Members in 2023 Fall Semester The ’s Oxford chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducted 20 new members during the Fall 2023 semester at the Oxford during the Fall 2023 semester. Honor Society - Jan 3 Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Gamma Chi Chapter Inducts 53 New Members in Fall 2023 Semester ’s Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Gamma Chi chapter inducted 53 new members in the Fall Semester of 2023 at the DeSoto Center. Honor Society - Jan 3 Northwest Celebrates Fall 2023 Graduates officials announced graduates have been awarded degrees and certificates for the Fall 2023 semester. Degrees were officially conferred by Dr. Michael Heindl, Northwest president, on Dec. 8, during the college’s 115th Commencement. As commencement speaker, Northwest welcomed Tony Sandridge, a lifelong Tate County resident, and the first African American to sit on the Tate County Board of Supervisors. Currently, Sandridge is serving his fourth term, and he prides himself on being an advocate for the community. Sandridge founded a non-profit organization called "Tate County Bridging the Gap Inc" in 2012. Graduation - 2023 Dec 15 First Group of Physical Therapy Assistant Students Graduate in Summer Commencement had its first class of students from the Physical Therapy Assistant program graduate at the college’s 114th Commencement on July 28. Degrees were officially conferred by Dr. Michael Heindl, Northwest president, on May 12, during the college’s 113th Commencement. Serving as Commencement speaker for Academic and Career-Technical Education graduation was Kell Smith, executive director of the Mississippi Community College Board. For the School of Health Sciences Commencement, the speaker was Dr. Melissa Temple, director of nursing education at the Mississippi Institution of Higher Learning. Serving as Commencement speaker was Mississippi businesswoman and Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees member, Teresa Hubbard. Hubbard serves as president and CEO of the company she founded, CITE Armored, an armored truck manufacturing company.
